Tony "Night Eagle" Oakes

Second youngest of 12 children, Tony Oakes grew up in hard times in the mountains of North Carolina. His Cherokee-blend heritage included mama's kitchen gospel music, whether she was cooking or hanging wash on the line.

Tony grew up singing and his songs are from the heart, from his love for his country and for God. He has been writing songs since he was a teenager out of both inspiration ("Written Down in Red") and heartbreak ("Don't Let Love Pass You By").

Tony served his country after high school, and returned from the Navy to find that his whole world had changed. (Listen to "Let It Go" for a glimpse of those times.) Now he is back in his hometown, with a wife who loves his big heart and a son growing up faster than Tony imagined possible.

Tony plays lead guitar, and his songwriting and vocals lend the band a distinctive attitude. He has many years experience as a musician and songwriter, having played everything from bluegrass to Billy Idol and a little of everything in between. Through the years his music has been influenced by many great musicians, and those inspirations have combined to help Tony create his own unique style, so you'll hear hints of your favorites all rolled into one. Listen closely to his original songs; they will not only get your feet moving, they will touch your heart.
